Jake Evans

SCROLL DOWN

Jake Evans

Inside The Mind: Jake Evans

We see...

A silhouetted figure sits alone in the bleachers of  Notre Dame's Compton Ice Arena.  All American team captain Jake Evans, deep in his thoughts, looks out across the ice.   Cut to glimpses of game moments, like dreams in his mind’s eye. Smash-cut to hyper-real scenes from his imagination.

We hear Jake's VO; his inner-dialogue.

"Hockey is a game of milliseconds."

(close up of a goalie's glove as a puck flies by within an inch. GFX gauging milliseconds and millimeters.)

"Sometimes it takes finesse."

(close up of jake's stick and puck--deke, toe drag, wrist shot)

"Sometimes it takes brute force."

(Jake walks out of locker room into hallway--flash frame as his stick becomes a massive hammer.)

"In a faceoff, the puck can be won or lost in less than point two five seconds."

(Jake skates into the circle, the opponent skates forward--flash frame as the opponent becomes MMA Fighter and then back to the opponent. Extreme close up of puck dropping to ice, slomo then furious stick action.)

SFX VO UNDER

"You gotta be a pitbull in there! Your a beast! Get into him! Slap-n-sweep! Lift-n-kick! Lock in! Win!

(Intercut shots of pitbull dog barking, teeth. Furious stick action fighting for the puck.)

"Point two five seconds... That's faster than this, this, this and way faster than this.

(Rapid cut shots of a fast ball, a golf swing, a sprinter exploding out of starting blocks, and a basketball tip off.)

"They say I'm a greasy player. That I like to get in the crease. That I'm sneaky."

(Cut away to broadcast plays and sfx of announcer calls, etc)

"But mostly... I prefer to dish off to an open teammate."

(Broadcast footage, "Assist by Evans! Evans with the assist! What a pass by Evans!)

"In some games, it takes up to thirty failed shot attempts for one successful goal.

With odds like that, sometimes it feels almost impossible to score."

***

(Special effects sequence: Jake vs Goalie--recreating the break-away goal from the Wisconsin game and the Michigan State game. He tries option 1 and fails. reacts. Tries option 2 and fails. reacts. Slows down, sees option 3. Goal! inter-cut with Jake's break-away goal vs Wisconsin)

SFX VO UNDER (whispered inner-dialogue):

"Get in the paint? or Snipe? Toe Drag?

His hands are high. Under his stick!

No good.

(Reaction shot)

He's coming out of the net. Lead right, go left. Glove side!

Aaagh!

(Jake breaks his stick over his knee)

Wait for it. See it.

Drive hard. Deke. Top shelf, Wrist shot!

There it is."

(goal)

***

"Yeah, well... I never pay much attention to the odds."

(Cut to montage of broadcast calls and scoring plays and assists)

BROADCAST CALL:

"He shoots he scores! Jake Evans does it again! Are you kidding me! Another Irish goal! Irish win! Irish win!"

INSIDE THE MIND - JOSH ADAMS

  • This is our first installment of the "Inside The Mind" series produced by Fighting Irish Media. This Jake Evans piece will closely follow this concept but with added elements of  "choose your adventure" like in the Lee Kiefer video below. And we're adding a few hyper-real elements and characters (Ken and Shawn) to this concept.

Lee kiefer - opening sequence

  • Just the first 2:00
  • Note her 3 options of how to score. 2 mistakes then she finds the right move. We want to do this with Jake.

SickKids vs: undeniable

  • Note the match-frame edits to the hyper-real characters.

Cast

Cast

JAKE EVANS as himself

  • Senior, Forward, Captain of #1 Ranked Notre Dame Hockey Team. Currently leads NCAA in scoring.

KEN SHAMROCK as The Nightmare Defenseman

  • Four time world champion and UFC Hall of Famer. Known as "The Godfather of MMA" and "The World's Most Dangerous Man".

Costume Ideas for Ken's character--an elite MMA fighter on the attack. We prefer all black trunks or dark color. Cannot have visible branding. And prefer black MMA gloves with no branding. And dark colored shoes (because we will be on and near the ice). If there is small branding, i can usually gaff tape it to conceal it.

SHAWN SMITH as The Mountain Goalie

  • Former ESPN World's Strongest Man Championship Finalist and Profesional Powerlifter

Costume Ideas for Shawn's character--sort of a gladiator/executioner/giant/hulk

PRACTICE GOALIE -

  • To work against Jake as he practices taking shots on goal.

  • Needs to wear non-descript black uniform and black helmet.

PRACTICE DEFENSEMAN - Riley Robbins

  • To work against Jake as he practices taking shots on goal.

  • Needs to wear non-descript black uniform and black helmet.
